This is New England - johnnycake -
 Serve with plenty of butter

3/4 Cup of Yellow Cornmeal

1&1/4 Cup of Sifted Flour  (Unbleached)

1 Tablespoon Baking Powder

1 Teaspoon of Salt

2 Eggs beaten

1 Cup of Heavy Cream

Sift dry ingredients together,

Add Eggs and Cream

Beat vigorously until smooth.

Pour into 9" square pan.

Bake in hot oven (425*) about 30 minutes.

Makes  apx. 8 Servings.

(Bean Soup and Corn Bread make a perfect protein.)

2  Cups of dried beans

6  Cups of Water -Boil 2 minutes, remove from heat
   let stand 1 hours.Simmer beans without draining,
   about 2hrs, adding more water if necessary.

1 Ham Bone (1&1/2lb Ham butt apx.) Simmer in water to cover.
Skim fat from broth and add tender beans.

Stir in:

1 Cup celery & leaves
1 Quart of canned tomatoes  (Home canned the best.)
3/4 Cup - Dices Potatoes
1 Teaspoon Salt
1/8 teaspoon -  Pepper

Makes 10 Servings - Apx.

(Pep up with grated horse-radish)

5.  Ask smart people how to bring to justice public officials that arrange for cash/kick-backs.

Dirt poor is when you have dirt floors.  Grandpa Chester Bell was from a big English family

from Canada.  They had dirt floors.  Grandpa was boarded out when he was about nine

because his parents were too poor to feed him.  He worked for room and board.

The little money he was paid  was sent to his parents to feed his Brothers and Sisters.

He told me that he worked in a factory once where they made hoops, lids and stays.

--Barrels.  He became a Chief Engineers on the Great Lakes.  Grandma taught him his

Figurin' so he could pass his test for Engineering.  Grandpa's nickname was,  "Happy".

Everyone liked to sail with Chester.  I asked him once what his secret was to always

bring everyone back alive.  He told me,  "The Chief has to respect the Captain and the

Captain has to respect the  Chief Engineer and they both have to respect the weather.

Grandpa sailed 9 Months a year.

Grandpa said he always  liked to work.

During the "Big Depression"  Mom said she was dressed better than most because

her  Mother, Bessie, sewed.

PANCAKES

Whole Wheat/Buttermilk Pancakes

Betty Crocker -1979

1 or 2  Eggs  (Beat until fluffy)

1 Cup Butter Milk ( or more)

2 Tablespoons  (butter flavored) Crisco, Oil, or  Butter

Mix

Add 1 Cup Whole Wheat Flour

1 Teaspoon Baking Powder

1/2 Teaspoon of Baking Soda

Dash Salt. Cinnamon,  Nutmeg

Grease Frying pan or griddle.

Pour about 3-4 Tablespoon of batter onto hot pan.

Pan is hot enough if drops of water -when sprinkled on pan -

dance.

Pancake needs to be flipped when bubbles on top break.

Add any kind of fruit to batter.  Eg:  Apple, Banana, Blueberries ,  Dried fruit.

Add nuts:  Walnuts, Silvered Almonds, Pecans, etc.

Serve Hot with Real Butter, Real Maple Syrup, Jelly, Honey or Applesauce.

Serve with a kind heart.

The T.V. should have an option that you can delete/filter from the screen:  Vulgarity,  things that are

"The Boy That Cried Wolf"

I was about  5 years's old.  We lived in St. Clair , Michigan- on 8th and Jay.  I was going to see

Chuckie Eggars.

I was cutting through  Mr. Wilson's  back yard.  I climbed the picket fence.  When I jumped to the other

side my over-all's strap caught on one of the pickets.  I couldn't reach the strap and get un-hooked.

I started yelling, "Help!"  No one came.  I was hoping that Mr. Wilson didn't  hear me because he

was a mean old man.  I was hoping Mom would come.  I yelled and yelled.  Finally my mother came

and un-hooked me  and got me down..   Then she told me the story of the boy that  would yell,

"Wolf!" and everyone would run out their doors of their house to rescue the Boy.  But the Boy was

teasing,- kidding, -lying.  There was no wolf.  When everyone came running to his rescue --

He laughed and laughed.

And and rolled on the ground laughing.

 One day there really was a wolf.   The boy

yelled and yelled.   "Wolf ! Wolf!"  But no one believed  him.  No one came to his rescue.  The boy

 has never been seen again.  Neither hide nor hair.  The boy's name was John Theadore Republican.

I saw Pres. Obama -- dressed in his professional black suit but wearing basketball shoes.

He was dribbling a ball,--painted to look like a globe,  He was hot-dogging, like I have only

seen the Globe Trotters master. He was dribbling the ball over and back, behind his head,

between his legs ,  down on one knee,  ---now driving down the reflection  pool toward the

Washington Monument,  I saw him,  He was driving that ball ON THE WATER!  He slammed

dunked !  He won the game!  And the game was won after 16 days and nights of man-to-man/a full

court press!

The crowd roars.  Happy Cheering could be heard around the world.

GOOD GAME  PRES. OBAMA!

Stuck

I was around 8 or 9.  I lived on a farm, west of St. Clair.  I had gone over to see Norma Schroeppel.

She was (very nice and had red hair)- a teen-ager who use to baby-sit for us.   It was spring .  It had

thawed.  On  the way home I was going to take a short-cut through a muddy plowed field.  I was

wearing rubber boots, flannel -lined jeans , a wool jacket, mittens, and  a babushka.

My boots got stuck in the mud.

 One boot came off.  Then my shoe came off.  Then my other boot came off.  Then my other

shoe.

Then my socks came off.   I kept sinking.  I couldn't move.  No matter how hard I tried.

 I started yelling for HELP!  But no one heard me.  My feet were cold.    I couldn't move !

I don't remember what happened to get me out of the mud.  I simply don't remember.

But here I am a Great Grandmother now.  So some-one bigger than I  helped me get

 out of the mud.    I am so thankful that someone came.     But I don't remember who came.

1.   Basement paint colors should be decided by people living in the building.

An Old Farmer came along, and the Young Farmer asked the Old Farmer,  Mister,  do you know how I
can get this jackass to move??
  The Old Farmer picked up a 2X4 and hit  the jackass ,with all his
might, right between the eyes.

The Young Farmer said,  "Gee, What did you go and do that for?"

If I was the decider for how to help the victims of the  Sandy Hurricane I would:


Provide Water, Food, and transportation to high ground.

Relocate the victims to new homes and jobs and extended family using the internet.

I would offer to buy their property--Immediately.  Based on what is left.  And help

the victims obtain their insurance money for their losses.

The Mississippi Delta flooded year after year.  The Government came in year after year to
rebuild.

Finally the Government offered the victims money to move to higher ground.

We need to learn from the unpredictable weather.  We need to move to higher ground.
